South Carolina VOAD is the forum where organizations share knowledge and resources throughout the emergency management cycle of preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation. This association of nonprofit and voluntary organizations that respond to disasters as part of their overall mission also includes Government and Private sector partners.
Some benefits of South Carolina VOAD membership are:
No One Agency or Organization Can Do It All – Cooperation
Disasters impact people. Regardless of the size, scale and scope, South Carolina VOAD affirms cooperative connections among and between agencies and organizations. South Carolina VOAD seeks to foster efficient service delivery to people affected by disaster, while focusing on unnecessary duplication of effort.
Incident Response and Recovery – Communication
Quarterly meetings are conducted across the state to share information and resources during the preparedness phase. In support of the agencies and organizations active in a response, SCVOAD can help coordinate and facilitate communication among member organizations, emergency management agencies and other organizations.
Peer to Peer Networking – Coordination
South Carolina VOAD offers members numerous opportunities to share and discuss best practices and to partner with regional VOAD and LTRGs.
Access to Resources, Training, and Other Learning Opportunities – Collaboration
South Carolina VOAD members and partners gather around topical issues and programmatic activities to improve the delivery of services throughout the disaster cycle, and to further create a climate for cooperation. Each organization maintains its own identity and independence while collaborating with other organizations, agencies and local, state, or federal authorities.
